Because Why Do Delivery When You Could Do HEALTHY & HOMEMADE?!?!

Back atcha with another Sunday installment of Nutritious Nostalgia!!
Here we are with Recipe #5 of the series … can you believe it?? If you’ve been following along, you know that this is the series where we take YOUR favorite comfort foods (submitted via DM on our Insta) and recreate them with a healthy, plant-based spin… this week’s creation?? I mean…. Let’s be honest, what would comfort food be without a little PIZZA right??
I think people would be surprised to know how much pizza we eat here at NYCfitfam HQ… we’re definitely a PIZZA FAMILY!! But we almost never do delivery… we like to do it from scratch.
We’ve partnered with Primal Kitchen to bring you the simplest, yummiest pizza recipe that you can easily make at home. Making pizza from scratch is so much more satisfying than delivery… it even helps you “wolf it down” a *little bit* slower than I would a delivery pizza, because I truly APPRECIATE the process. Plus, if you have kiddos, there’s NOTHING better than a Friday Night Pizza Party where they get to do the toppers!

We are so grateful to Primal Kitchen is all about real food, pantry staples, and QUALITY INGREDIENTS. Their unsweetened pizza sauce is nice and thick with plenty of flavor, and finished off our home-made, healthy crust with plenty of primal pizza pizzazzzz!!!

NYCfitfam’s Plant-Based Pizza
CRUST:
1 1/3 cup almond flour
1/2 cup tapioca
1/2 cup arrowroot starch
1 Tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp olive oil Primal Kitchen
7-8 Tbsp water
TOPPINGS:
1 jar of Primal Kitchen unsweetened pizza sauce
Vegan mozzarella
Raw veggies of choice
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
In a medium mixing bowl add the dry ingredients and mix together thoroughly.
In a separate smaller bowl add wet ingredients and whisk.
Combine the wet ingredients a little at a time until dough forms.
Transfer the dough to the parchment-lined pan and flatten and shape into a circle. It should be about 1/4" thick. The crust will puff up a bit while baking
Place flattened crust in the center of the oven for 10 minutes.
Top with Primal Kitchen unsweetened Pizza Sauce. We added shredded vegan mozzarella to one half, and raw cauliflower and broccoli florets to the other half. Put back in over for another 15-20 minutes.
Remove from the oven and enjoy.
